Corniche de l'Estérel
About 22 km
This road, built at the beginning of the 20th century to connect the Var to the Alpes-Maritimes, was already used by the Romans some 2000 years ago. It seems to be tightrope walking between the rocks of the Esterel massif and the dark blue Mediterranean Sea. This winding road, also called the « Corniche d'Or », will take you through astonishing landscapes with beaches hidden in small creeks. The Golden Island offshore and its tower were of inspiration to Hergé when he wrote The Black Island, as part of the adventures of Tintin.
