In the hinterland of the Var, edging the Mediterranean Sea, the area around Fayence at the foothills of the Alps unveils lovely, perched villages dominating the bay of Fréjus. These old, medieval strongholds are typical Provençal villages with cobblestoned alleyways and fountains for a peaceful setting where time is unimportant.
